Precision Agriculture BMP Technology Transfer
Thirty-Six producers located in eight counties agreed to assist the
Foundation with this project. They enrolled a minimum of 220 acres of
their operations for four crop years of detailed soils, input application, and
yield data collection. This was a total of 9998 acres. Each
participant received an incentive payment to help cover the costs of purchasing
grid soil sampling, variable rate and global positioning equipment. The
premise was that by precisely applying the fertilizer inputs the potential for
pollution would be reduced.
