OBION CREEK STREAM RESTORATION-Jackson Purchase Foundation

OBION CREEK STREAM RESTORATION

Phase 1
6,000 linear feet
Utilizing funding from an EPA 319 (h) grant from the Kentucky Division of Water and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Fee In Lieu of Mitigation Program, JPF partnered with the University of Louisville, Hickman County Conservation District, The Nature Conservancy, and the Obion Creek Watershed Conservancy District to restore nearly 6,000 linear feet of Obion Creek. By restoring this stream channel, nonpoint source pollution, siltation and sedimentation was reduced, and bottomland hardwood forests in the area were protected and restored, thus providing additional habitat for wildlife. This restoration also reduced flooding along Highway 307, thus protecting the local community.
